Delivering Solutions to Language Barriers

A recent article in ITnews discussed how Interpreterline, a Victorian translation [sic] firm, has started couriering video conferencing kits in unbranded boxes to schools and at least one regional community health service center to save on interpreters’ travel costs.

Interpreterline’s chief Ismail Akinci said the company had toyed with the concept because there was a finite source of interpreters available for some languages in Australia.

Pacnet Interprets Video Conferencing for All Graduates

“Pacnet’s solution has made a huge difference to the service that Interpreterline is able to provide”, said Mr Akinci. “Clients using the service so far have been astonished at the ease and simplicity of video interpreting sessions, this couldn’t have been delivered without the quality and reliability of a network like the one that Pacnet provided.

Another benefit of the network is that it enables a previously unavailable service. Members of the deaf community often require interpreters to assist them to communicate using Auslan, the sign language of the Australian deaf community...Video interpretation expands the ability of Interpreterline to offer services such as these, providing a much-needed service.
