AFL translations – sharing an Australian sport in any language

All Graduates Interpreting and Translating Services are the proud supporters of the AFL Multicultural Program; providing the translation and typesetting for the 31 languages of the multilingual how-to-play the game eBook - Welcome To The AFL - Australian Football in 31 Languages.

Launched publicly last week to coincide with the AFL Multicultural Round, the 37-page guide is an online tool for all members of the Australian community.  Partnering with the AFL Multicultural Program, All Graduates translated the eBook into languages that reflect multicultural Australia.

All Graduates Interpreting and Translating Services became involved with the translation of the Welcome To The AFL project through the AFL’s Multicultural Community Ambassador program. Volunteer Ambassadors from a variety of multicultural groups across Australia, work with the AFL to introduce the sport to their communities to promote inclusion and celebrate diversity. All Graduates’ Marketing and Communications Manager, Stephanie Mayne, become one of 80 national Multicultural Community Ambassadors at the end of 2013. She has a strong personal and professional interest in connecting people with the benefits of sport at local club level. “There are so many Community Ambassadors creating great initiatives for their respective communities with the support of their AFL clubs.”

In my professional role, it’s our business to facilitate communication for everyone. It was an easy decision for our business to support the AFL in their commitment to making information about the game accessible to more members of the community.”

The All Graduates translator and interpreter community recently attended the AFL Multicultural Round on Friday 12 July at the MCG. For many translators, interpreters and their families, it was their first attendance at a game.  Amongst them they spoke 55 languages.
